Dear Friends, Join us to the first post-pandemic in-person UWC event this Saturday June 5th. We are going to take the Metro-North Railroad and visit the town of Beacon in the Hudson Valley. There we are going to hike 2 miles to the summit of South Beacon Mountain where the famous Beacon Fire Tower is located, the hike is 4 miles total. We will have lunch at the summit and then come down to the town and get a beer.
What to bring:
1) Lunch
2) Mosquito repellent
3) Hat, baseball cap
4) Sun block
5) At least one liter of water
6) Sunglasses
7) Sweater
8) Rain Jacket
9) Hiking boots
When? Where?
We meet at Grand Central next to the central booth at 9.25am with our tickets ready. We will take 9.45am train to Poughkeepsie, arriving to Beacon at 11.22am. Be there on time, the next train is an hour later. In Beacon we take the free bus that takes us to the trail head. We should summit at 2.20pm, have lunch and be back at the trail head by 4.20pm. We will then go a visit the Hudson Valley Brewery. There is a train back at 5.06pm and every hour after that to New York City.
