CF will discuss all aspects of the process from how to choose the right frame to common framing mistakes, and will also provide a live framing demonstration.
This program is free and open to the public and will take place during the Art Club's monthly Art After Dark evening gallery and bar hours. The Club's galleries will be open 4-7pm alongside this presentation.
About the Speaker: CF Hayback
A graduate of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts painting program, CF Hayback is a master picture framer with nearly four decades of experience working with artists, collectors and significant works of art. His career began with comprehensive training in traditional picture framing and conservation practices before he went on to manage framing operations and work within the professional framing supply industry—earning the nickname “Doctor of Frameology” along the way.
In 1995, CF founded Nor’east Frameworks, his frame shop and gallery in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, serving the artists, collectors and estates of Cape Ann for three decades. Nor’east Frameworks was among a select group of framing establishments recommended by Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. In 2015, CF was a founder of Cape Ann Plein Air (CAPA), serving as lead marketing director and a board member, helping establish an event that has become an important part of the professional plein air painting community.
Now practicing in Rhode Island, CF continues to work with artists and collectors while presenting talks and demonstrations on framing and artwork preservation. As both a trained painter and master framer, he approaches framing “from both sides of the frame,” giving artists practical knowledge they can use to properly present, preserve and protect their own work—and its value—for generations to come.
