Hidden Herd Presents:THE DSM IVLiverpool gothic alt-pop trio THE DSM IV - formed by Guy McKnight of critically acclaimed cult favourites The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - fuse noise-rock, synth-pop and industrial electronics into something dark, visceral and distinctly their own. Their music is cacophonous yet melodic, built from dense textures, hypnotic synths, explosive guitars and infectious hooks, with thought-provoking lyrics that explore the ways our collective minds are shaped by mass media, entertainment and social media. Following a run of standalone singles and tours with Sleaford Mods, The Libertines and Dream Wife, THE DSM IV released their uncompromising debut album ‘NEW AGE PARANOIA’ in 2023. Recorded at The Albion Rooms in Margate - the HQ of The Libertines - the album weaves stories, beats, guitars and noise into a collection of sobering yet dreamlike songs about modern life, perception and the forces that shape it. The album saw the band take their convention-defying live show to packed venues across the UK, including appearances at Mutations Festival and alongside John Cale, Warmduscher, Sea Power, Ladytron, Big Joanie, The Wytches and Deadletter. Since then, THE DSM IV have released a new EP, ‘NEGATIVE UTOPIA’, and the singles ‘JUVENILE HERO’ and ‘KILLERS OF THE DREAM’, alongside extensive touring and appearances at Supersonic’s Block Party Festival in Paris and Louder Than War Live in Manchester.
