Beneath the calm of Hereford’s cathedral spires and grassy commons, secrets of feuding nobles, ancient choirs, and vanished ramparts quietly linger. This self-guided audio tour invites you to wander the city’s storied heart, unveiling political gambits, scandalous tales, and centuries-old mysteries where most visitors see only quiet courtyards and empty greens. Which bishop uprooted an entire college to discipline his singers? Why did schoolmasters wield birch rods in one of England’s oldest surviving schools? What desperate act turned graveyards into siege weapon stockpiles at Hereford Castle? Venture through time, tracing the paths of medieval vicars, embattled kings, rebellious students, and forgotten defenders. Move from whispered melodies in a hidden quadrangle to echoes of catapults on haunted ground. By journey’s end, Hereford will unfold around you with vivid stories and unexpected drama. Dare to begin—unearth the layers history tried to hide right beneath your feet.
