This class in the Rooted Herbalist Series focuses on developing a deeper understanding of medicinal plants and how herbalists observe and work with them. Students will learn how plants are identified, the different plant parts used in herbal medicine, and how plant families can offer clues about their traditional uses.Topics will include basic plant structure, the importance of plant identification, and how herbalists begin recognizing patterns among medicinal plants. This class helps students strengthen their relationship with plants while building the skills needed to study herbs with greater confidence.
Students will also begin exploring how herbalists observe plants in nature and how this awareness supports responsible harvesting and herbal preparation.
At the end of each class, students will create their own herbal infusion using a selected herb and an extraction medium of their choice. Available options include honey, oil, or alcohol.
No prior herbal knowledge is required. Beginners and curious plant lovers are welcome.
This class is part of the Rooted Herbalist Series at Take Root Studio. The course runs on a revolving schedule, so students may join at any point in the yearly cycle.
