Join us for the Closing Night Gala to celebrate the end of 12 days of film! What can we hold onto when the old Gods fail us, and are replaced by TikTok, fantasy TV and an online romance with a man posing as “Jason Momoa”? If you’ve ever looked for guidance, meaning and love in the wrong places, Georgina Savage and Matthew Bate’s intimate, verité documentary will hold up a mirror to the danger of your own desires.
South African Pastor Ina Dry, 63, embraces a new lease on life, following the death of her domineering husband. Loosening his strict rules over the evangelical rehab clinic they ran together, deep in the remote Karoo Desert, it seems that the vulnerable addicts in her charge also flourish anew. But without qualified staff at the helm, is Ina doing more harm than good? And what happens when Ina’s attention becomes consumed by social media, and she falls for a man claiming to be Jason Momoa? As filmmaker Georgina watches Ina’s beliefs crumble, she’s forced to question her own, in this thoroughly modern musing on addition and belief.
