In 1922, Phoenix Mill opened as part of Henry Ford’s Village Industries and became known as one of Ford’s remarkable all-female factory spaces, where women assembled electrical parts for Ford automobiles and earned wages equal to men. More than a century later, women will gather inside these same walls to create with their hands again. At the center of Heirloom Hour are communal tables filled with generations of women gathered to preserve what matters. A baby book being finished, a family recipe carefully preserved, and a Christmas gift being made by hand just a few steps away. Skilled experts and artisans will be there to help each woman leave with something made to be kept.
