Parent–child relationships don’t end when childhood does.They evolve, fracture, repair, and resurface—often quietly—in the therapy room.
Many clinicians tell me they feel confident naming attachment patterns or validating distress, but less sure about what to do next when adult parent–child dynamics keep driving pain, resentment, or stuckness. Especially when boundaries, grief, ambivalence, or estrangement are involved.
Working Toward "Healthy Enough": Parents and Adult Children in Therapy
This full day training introduces a clinical framework integrating attachment and CBT, built specifically for the parent–adult child dynamic. You'll leave able to:
- Understand the parent–child dynamic across the lifespan
- Identify the personal, relational, and social forces shaping the modern parent–adult child relationship
- Describe different family dynamics from the child and parent perspectives
- Build clear case conceptualizations for individual or dyadic work
- Apply practical strategies for attachment wounds, estrangement, and intergenerational conflict
The training includes a combination of theory, case discussion, group discussion and practice, and the opportunity to ask questions about your own cases.
