"The health of U.S. children has worsened across a wide range of health indicator domains over the past 17 years...if children’s health is declining..., a more effective response may be to address underlying systemic factors that are influencing the health of children..." This is according to the 2025 JAMA study, "Trends in US Children’s Mortality, Chronic Conditions, Obesity, Functional Status, and Symptoms."

The aim of this solution-focused discussion series is to brainstorm how we can improve the local ecosystem that influences the health of our children.
Each event in the series is focused on one of the main factors identified in the study. After a film clip, local professionals with knowledge on the particular topic will help inform the conversation. The first topic is: ULTRA-PROCESSED FOODS.
An excerpt of Food Inc. 2 will be featured, followed by a group discussion that includes:
*. Dr. Paul Ratte - naturopathic doctor and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nutrition at Northwestern Health Sciences University
*. Peter Allen - an ecologist-turned-farmer and steward of Mastodon Valley Farm
*. Mark Doudlah - 5th generation conventional farmer who transitioned 1800 acres to organic.
COME BE PART OF THE CONVERSATION.
