La Trobe Health Careers Camp is designed to give students a realistic and relevant insight into studying and working in health and science fields, particularly within regional Victoria.
Year 12 students from Bendigo and surrounding rural areas explore health career pathways at La Trobe and experience an overnight campus stay.
Held over two days at La Trobe University Bendigo, the event will include a dynamic mix of information sessions, hands-on lab experiences, group-based problem-solving activities, and opportunities to engage with LTU academics, current students, and local health professionals.
Students will explore the wide range of courses and pathways available at LTU Bendigo—including degrees in Science, Biomedical Science, Ph*rm*cy, Exercise Science, Nursing, Social Work, Dentistry, and more. Sessions will cover VTAC applications, course entry requirements, and tips for interviews and applications.
Practical lab sessions will introduce participants to university-level learning and research, offering a taste of what to expect in health and science degrees. Students will also receive advice on preparing for Year 12 and building foundational knowledge in key subject areas.
Throughout the camp, students will connect with peers who share similar interests and hear firsthand from those working and studying in rural health. The experience aims to inspire, inform, and equip students with a clearer vision for their future in health and science.
