About this Event
3-hour introduction to Mantra as a method to heal your soul and awaken the heart
Mantra is not simply a means to relax and feel good for a while, this would be a temporary solution to our struggle. Rather Mantra is meant as a means, a yogic spiritual technology, to wake you up to a deeper reality of who you truly are.
I began my spiritual path from a place of abject despair, and spent the past 15 years exploring spiritual practices trying to discover methods that actually lead to awakening and emotional healing, and I found them in the tradition of Open Heart: a pragmatic path that doesn't rely on belief, but rather a discovery and revealing of our true nature through direct experience.
In this session you'll be guided by me, Nataraja, through some simple Mantra meditation techniques, including basic visualisation and breath work, with the purpose to give you a direct experience of how such methods can begin to unfold the layers of subconscious tensions we all carry, helping to reveal your calm wakeful loving nature that lies underneath.
Are you listening to the message life is trying to tell you?
Your pain, your anguish, the heaviness of life, is a message that begins to appear when we continue to seek happiness and fulfilment in the wrong places.
We cling to life so tightly, to the things and people we love, yet the sands of time slowly, or abrubtly, begin taking everything away from us, and it is painful and heartbreaking.
Life is often a struggle, but it was never meant to be easy. It was meant to wake you up to the loving awareness that you are.
The saints, sages, and Enlightened yogis of past and present have all been saying the same thing: that our weariness and disenchantment with life will only increase until you finally and truly begin to surrender seeking outside of yourself for what you can only find within.
This temporary human body will grow old, get ill, and eventually come to an end, and everything around you will change too. Yet we take our temporary roles and identities in life so seriously, wearing them like costumes, and then fight to protect them at all cost. But how can we hold on to these things? Grasping at them is like standing in quicksand. A battle of "me" against "life" that we can never win.
There is a deeper truth to us
And a more stable ground to stand on. We are not merely these temporary bodies and identities, but rather we are spiritual beings temporarily having a human experience.
We are an expression of pure loving awareness, but we have temporarily forgotten this, and feeling separate from this love, we are confused and searching everywhere outside of ourselves for what has always been within.
Mantra is a yogic technology, used as part of a spiritual system of meditation and yoga, that helps us peel back the layers of self-confusion to reveal our true nature as the unconditional love that we are.
The struggle is a meaningful part of the journey, yet as we begin to embody this realisation, that who we are and always have been is a unique expression of divine love, we find a deep peace, joy and freedom in our hearts we never knew possible.
What to expect
This Mantra meditation introduction is about giving you an experiential taste, for those who are new to such practices (no experience necessary), or for those who are experienced who might want to explore a different style.
We will have a break halfway through where tea and snacks will be provided. We have chairs to sit on and blankets to keep warm. Bring comfortable clothing suitable for meditation.
The actual Mantra will be simple and easy to follow, accompanied by a harmonium, with no pressure to join in or chant loudly. Just enjoy the experience of listening or joining in if you want to, and feeling the vibrations flow through you and the effect this has on your body-mind. Followed by periods of sitting in silence.
There will be a discussion about Mantra as a method and what such practices entail, along with the philosophy and view of the spiritual path, and how to introduce such a practice to benefit your life. With time for questions at the end.
