About this Event
Hawkesbury District Hospital offer in person birthing and early parenting classes in a warm and welcoming environment, to help you prepare to welcome your baby into the world.
The classes are run by our experienced midwives and give you information to assist you in making informed choices for you and your baby during birth and the early months. Classes cover pregnancy, birth and the early months of parenting.
The sessions cover a wide range of topics including:
- what to expect during the birth process,
- natural methods of managing anxiety, discomfort, and pain
- being a confident support person,
- medications and birth interventions - risks and benefits
- breastfeeding,
- understanding and responding to your newborn's cues,
- neighbourhood child and family support services.
Classes are held over two options
- All day Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm
- 6 weeks on Wednesdays at 6:00pm to 8:00pm
They are inclusive of singles, couples, LGBTQIA+, teenagers and parents expecting again. Even if you are giving birth elsewhere, we will accept your booking if we have spaces available.
The total cost of the classes is $120. You are welcome to bring a partner or support person at no extra cost.
Bookings are essential and we recommend booking before you are 24 weeks pregnant.
Once we receive your booking, we will send you a confirmation email with a link to make an online payment. Alternatively, you can pay in person at the main hospital reception. They are available 6:00am to 8:00pm, 7 days a week. Please note that we do not accept payments via Eventbrite.
