Harvest Haven Homesteading Workshop 🌿

Come spend an afternoon with us at Cajun Corral Farm for another hands-on Harvest Haven Homesteading Workshop, where we learn practical skills you can take home and actually use.
This month we’re continuing several of the projects we’ve been working on together — and starting a few new ones!
🫙 Continuing Dry Canning
We’re taking our dry pantry a little further with rice, lentils, beans and other dry staples, along with dry canning herbs and teas. We’ll talk about preparing and storing these pantry basics for longer-term use.
🥕 Food Dehydration
We’ll introduce food dehydration and explore how removing moisture can help preserve foods and give you another practical way to put up your harvest.
🍞 Starting Our Sourdough Journey
We’re starting a sourdough starter from scratch! We’ll go over the basics of getting a starter going, caring for it and preparing it for future baking.
We’ll also introduce several ancient flours and grains and talk about how they differ from the modern flour most of us are accustomed to using.
🔥 Finishing Our Fire Cider
Our Fire Cider has been working its magic since our last workshop, and now it’s time to finish it. We’ll check our progress and go through the final steps of the process.
🌿 Herbal Infusions — This Month: Tinctures
We’re continuing our herbal infusion series with a closer look at tinctures. We’ll discuss what a tincture is, how this preparation differs from other herbal infusions and walk through the basic process of making one.
🐝 And What About the Bees?
You know we can’t forget them! If time permits, we’ll head out to the hives and see what our bees have been up to.

Bring a chair, pen and paper, your questions and your curiosity. Harvest Haven is relaxed, hands-on and family-friendly. You don't need a farm or years of homesteading experience to join us.
