About this Event
Thanks to funding from National Lottery Awards for All funding, made possible by National Lottery players, the Scottish Maritime Museum is pleased to provide an opportunity for unpaid adult carer’s to spend some time using creativity to support their own wellbeing in a new series of creative workshops.
Are you an unpaid adult carer? Why not come along to the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine for some time for yourself to be creative? After a successful programme of creative workshops, running since late 2025, we are please to be able to offer further support to the unpaid carers community.
Workshops will start on the 18th of November for a 10-week block (we take a break over the festive period) on Wednesdays from 1-3pm at the Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine. Don't worry if this first block doesn't suit you, we will be running a further three blocks throughout 2027, so there will be more opportunities to join in.
The workshops are really relaxed and led by artist Ellie Swanston who will help you explore some creative practices at a pace that suits you. No experience is needed, we will support you to find your creative side. We want you to be involved in deciding the types of creative activities we explore and there is an opportunity to have your creations included in an exhibition at the end of the block.
The ticket you book here, is for the full 10-week block. There is no need to book for seperate dates. It is more beneficial if you can make it along to all/most of the dates, but please don't worry if there are any you would need to miss. The workshops will be designed so you can drop in and out as needed.
The generous funding we have from the National Lottery Awards for All means we can support participants with travel expenses. We also want the workshops to be as accessible as possible so please reach out if you have any access needs that you think we need to know about. You can email our community engagement officer at [email protected] or phone the office on 01294 278283 for a chat about access or travel expense support.
