Step backstage and into an enchanted forest for an evening of music, storytelling, and a little theatrical chaos!Join EveryVoice Arts for our inaugural production, a condensed and interactive presentation of Engelbert Humperdinck’s beloved opera Hansel and Gretel, followed by a surprise Musical Theater second act where we'll announce our spring production!
But this isn't quite your typical opera performance…
Imagine you've accidentally wandered into an opera rehearsal. The singers are preparing their scenes, the creative team is making decisions, the tech crew is trying to keep everything together… and you're there to watch it all happen.
Through staged scenes, musical highlights, lighthearted commentary, and behind-the-scenes explanations of what goes into producing a show, we'll explore the story, characters, music, vocal techniques, and theatrical traditions that make this beloved fairy tale an enduring classic.
But isn't opera usually in a different language? Yes, it often is. In fact, Hansel and Gretel was originally written in German. Don't speak German? Never fear! This performance will be presented in English, with one featured selection sung in the original German. (Just for fun!)
Admission for this event is FREE!
A suggested contribution of $5 per person will help us offset production costs and continue bringing professional level performing arts opportunities to our community but the charge will not be required.
