"Bring Your Own (Ruminant!) Poop". Spend an afternoon with our dairy team learning how to perform fecal testing to identify parasite load in herbivore ruminants. The afternoon:
-An introduction to herd health and parasite management in the classroom
-A short tour of the farm
-A walk through the pastures to discuss rotational grazing (weather dependent).
-Hands-on fecal egg counts. You’ll prepare and read your own sample under the microscope, start to finish.
-Open time for Q&A when you are welcome to bring challenges or questions that you may be facing on your own farm.
This workshop is a good fit for goat and sheep owners, homesteaders, ag students, and anyone curious about what it takes to care for a ruminant herd.
