A new exhibition is opening at the Ellen Noël Art Museum! Hands of the Himalayas: Gurung Fiber Traditions of Nepal is the story of the remarkable artistry and resourcefulness of the Gurung people, who have lived for centuries in the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. Guest Curated by Kathleen Mahoney and the weavers and toolmakers of Sikles Village, this exhibition features handwoven textiles, baskets, mats, and tools created from materials gathered in the forests and mountains surrounding the village of Sikles.Hands of the Himalayas offers a rare opportunity to experience the enduring artistry of the Gurung people and gain a deeper appreciation for the relationship between craft, culture, and the landscape that sustains them.
