Under the step by step guidance of an expert tutor, learn all about how to paint festive designs on fondant-iced cakes.Following the success of our other hand-painted cake classes - and after numerous requests, Lyn is delighted to be teaching a Christmas-themed hand-painted cake decorating class.
You really don’t need to be artistic to create beautiful painted designs! Under Lyn’s expert guidance, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve as she breaks everything down into simple, easy-to-follow steps.
Before the class, we’ll prepare and cover an 8-inch round x 4-inch deep dummy cake in white fondant, ready for you to transform. If you would prefer to work on a real cake, you’re very welcome to bring one along to decorate during the class.
During the day, you’ll create a selection of beautiful festive designs while learning the techniques and skills you need to create your own hand-painted cakes.
You’ll learn all about:
- Choosing the right brushes and equipment
- Mixing and combining colours to create the perfect festive palette
- Using cocoa butter as a painting medium
- Creating different shapes and decorative elements
- Building up your designs, layer by layer
- Creating beautiful Christmas-themed painted details on fondant
And there’s an extra little bonus! You’ll have your own set of paintbrushes to use throughout the day, which you’ll take home with you afterwards, so you can continue practising and creating your own designs at home.
Lyn is a highly accomplished cake decorator and experienced tutor. Her teaching style is relaxed, encouraging and practical, with every technique broken down into manageable steps — making this class suitable whether you’re completely new to cake painting or looking to develop your existing skills.
Decorate a real Cake or create a 2-tier Christmas Centrepiece:
you’re very welcome to bring a real cake to decorate. Alternatively, the 8-inch dummy cake gives you another exciting option. You could decorate a 6-inch cake at home and place it on top of your painted dummy to create a stunning two-tier Christmas centrepiece for your festive celebrations.
By the end of the day, you’ll have developed new cake decorating skills, a collection of beautiful festive painted designs and plenty of inspiration to continue creating at home.
