HALLOWEEN: SEASON OF THE WITCHSaturday, October 31 · 9 PM
The Black Goat
132 East Main Street
Shelbyville, Illinois
$13 admission
Join us Halloween night for a special FILM • LORE • PARFUM evening devoted to John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978).
Before the film, we’ll explore the older traditions and folklore surrounding Samhain, the ancient festival associated with the transition into winter and the belief that this was a night when the boundary between the living and the dead became less certain.
We’ll look at the beliefs surrounding spirits, divination, omens, disguises, fires, offerings, crossroads, thresholds, and the strange customs that developed around this liminal night.
Then the lights go down for John Carpenter’s Halloween.
An evening of film, folklore, perfume, and Halloween tradition at The Black Goat.
