About this Event
We’re going big this Halloween with a single ticket/two floor dance party featuring Dj Anjali & The Incredible Kid’s annual Bollywood Horror (lower level) and Takimba’s annual Monster Mash-up dance party on the upper level! A ticket allows you to flow between floors (capacity dependent) throughout the night, with both bars pouring and all of the DJ’s spinning that Halloween heat! We highly recommend grabbing a pre-sale ticket, as we expect the night to pack out and will likely have only limited day-of tix available at the door!
Few DJs can be said to have changed the sound of their city but that is exactly what DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid have done since they first introduced Portland, Oregon nightclub audiences to the many varied sounds of Global Bass at a rowdy New Year’s Eve debut in 2000. They are most known for incinerating dance floors with the heavy dance floor artillery of South Asia, but the duo scour the globe for any hard-hitting music that combines local music traditions with window-rattling production. In 2002 they founded ANDAZ, a Bhangra and Bollywood party that ran for 18 years and was only stopped by a global pandemic. With DJ E3 they co-founded the Pacific Northwest’s first Global Bass dance party (Atlas 2003-2013.) They currently host TROPITAAL! A Desi Latine Soundclash the second Saturday of every month at the Goodfoot (est. 2013.)
In addition to hosting their own club nights, Anjali and The Kid have performed at many festivals including Sasquatch!, Decibel, What The Festival?!, MusicfestNW, Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration, Beloved, Matatu Festival of Stories, Photosynthesis, Soul’d Out, Portland International Film Festival, Indian Summer Festival (Vancouver, B.C.), Kaleidoscope and Vancouver Queer Film Festival to name a few. They have guested at parties from NYC (iBomba) to SF (Dhoom) and Chicago (Bhangratheque) as well as numerous appearances at both the legendary Basement Bhangra (NYC) and Non Stop Bhangra (SF.) Anjali has played many Queer Desi parties on the West Coast from BollyQ (Seattle) to Dalit Dreamlands (Oakland) and now hosts Chai & Roses in Portland.
Anjali & The Kid have supported artists as diverse as A Tribe Called Red, Bomba Estéreo, Tigerstyle, Major Lazer, Skrillex, Flying Lotus, Saini Surinder, Digable Planets, Delhi 2 Dublin, Sleigh Bells, Glitch Mob, Dengue Fever, Blockhead, Edna Vazquez, The Decemberists, Pink Martini, Portugal. The Man, Uproot Andy, Ming & FS, Hindi Zahra, Toy Selectah, Quantic, Opiuo, Sub Swara, Bonobo, Plastician, Bobby Friction, Kiran Ahluwalia, Gold Panda, Maga Bo, Poirier, Kultur Shock, Ghostland Observatory, Heems, State of Bengal, Karsh Kale, DJ Rekha, DJ Spooky, CeU, Antibalas, & Nickodemus.
In 2016 they won Best DJ in Willamette Week’s Best of Portland and in 2017 Willamette Week’s Best of Portland Readers’ Poll.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Kush just celebrated twenty years! The Incredible Kid hosts his weekly radio show on KBOO.FM every Tuesday night (10PM to Midnight.) Archives of Chor Bazaar, their former radio show dedicated to the vintage sounds of South Asia & Latin America can be found on XRAY.FM.
Takimba has been a producer, DJ, promoter and West Coast party aficionado for decades, known for his multi-genre mash-ups and late-night festival and Laurelhurst Park Silent Discos. His recurring “Get On Up” dance nights at the goodfoot have become famous for their line-around-block crowds and all-out dance-floor burning sets. Takimba’s crates are deep with hip-hop, EDM, funk, global beats, soul, dub and more– not to mention his famed series of Grateful Dead/electronica remixes that have headlined the Crystal Ballroom!
As mentioned, this one is going to be big and we highly recommend getting tickets early. Doors @ 8pm, music @9pm. Don’t forget that costume!
