This is a free community tree planting event.
We are planting two hedges this winter, restoring historical hedges that have previously been ripped out 'for efficiency'. In line with our nature-friendly organic farming we want to bring biodiversity and nature closer to our crop growing, and reducing field size and having diverse hedges will help nature to flourish.
Wellies or sturdy boots are required, and all visitors should dress appropriately for the weather and activity. Mosshayne Farm will provide hot drinks, biscuits and cake for all volunteers. We will have wheelbarrows, children's wheelbarrows, and spades, but if you are able to bring your own spade, this would be helpful.
Volunteers will be given the opportunity to plant a section of a mixed species native hedge, and leave a wooden token with their name on, and on future tree maintance days / farm visits they can come and see their section of hedge and how their trees are growing.
This will be a brilliant Half Term day out with the kids, they can see some of the behind the scenes of the farm, and have a lovely time planting trees to benefit the future of the community.
We will be hosting additional tree planting days at the weekend, and later in the winter.
