🌸🏵 HALF-DAY FLOWER HAVEN WORKSHOP 🌸🏵WHERE: SLOW BLOOMS, MATAKANA
WHEN: 21st November, 5th December or 10th December’26 (or by arrangement)
COST: $99
Our ever-popular Half-Day Flower Haven Workshops are back - don’t miss out!!
If you're keen to dive into the practicalities of growing and styling your own sustainable cut flowers, join us for this super-popular three hour workshop at Slow Blooms in Matakana.
Led by Slow Blooms founder Rebecka Keeling—who holds a Permaculture Design Certificate and an NZ Certificate of Horticulture, and co-founded Permaculture Mahurangi—this workshop is a deep dive into growing flowers in harmony with natural cycles. Rebecka brings a wealth of hands-on knowledge about soil health, permaculture growing methods, and the mechanics of seasonal cut-flower production.
What the morning looks like:
🌸 Harvest: We gather before the garden opens to the public to learn what to look for when selecting stems, flower anatomy, and proper harvesting techniques. Picking in the cool early morning ensures your blooms have maximum vase life.
🌸 Permaculture Walk & Plant Propagating: While your freshly cut stems sit in cool water to hydrate, Rebecka leads a walk through the beds to share the ecological principles behind Slow Blooms. You'll also harvest a selection of seasonal perennial cuttings and flower seeds to take home for your own garden patch.
🌸 Bouquet Composition: With fully rested blooms, we head to the workspace to go over structural guidelines for arrangement—focusing on form, texture, and balance—while leaving plenty of room for your personal style to come through.
You’ll leave with a generous, hand-harvested bouquet (valued at $35), seasonal seeds and cuttings for your home garden, and practical permaculture techniques you can put straight to work in your own soil.
Dates & Group Bookings:
Our three hour workshops run on select dates, but if you have a group of four or more, private workshops can be arranged to suit your schedule.
