Haitian Friendsgiving in Portland, Oregon

This special cooking class will be held on Saturday, November 14th, at the Nourish Building in downtown Portland.

Here’s what makes this experience different:

You and 11 other participants will arrive at 2:00 PM to roll up your sleeves and cook a full Haitian Thanksgiving feast together.

Then, your plus-one will arrive at 6:15 PM to join us for dinner.

You do the cooking. They show up ready to eat.

My name is Elsy, and I have been teaching Haitian culinary classes in Portland for eight years. Through my classes, I teach Oregonians how to use simple, fresh ingredients to amplify the flavors in their dishes.

“Simpler Tastes Better” is my motto.

For this Haitian Thanksgiving Experience, you and I will do exactly that. We’ll cook together, learn together, have plenty of fun, and then sit down with our guests to enjoy the feast we created.

We’re bringing some of Haiti’s most beloved holiday dishes to the Thanksgiving table:

1. Fried Green Plantains
2. Haitian Pikliz
3. Rice and Beans
4. Haitian Black Rice or Diri Djondjon with lima beans
5. Griot or Twice-cooked pork
6. Kodenn Bourré or Stuffed turkey
7. Haitian Mac and Cheese with ground beef filling
8. Salade Russe or Haitian-style Russian potato salad
9. Pain Patate or Haitian sweet potato cake
10. Haitian Kremas

Yes, we are making all of these delicious dishes together.

Bring a good attitude, an open mind, a smile, and a container for leftovers, just in case!
