It’s that time of the year again for Cloth Cat’s annual fundraiser, ‘Hair Of the Dog’ at the legendary Brudenell Social Club for our 16th year. This year it really does feel like the hair of the dog, coming so quickly after New Years. But let’s keep the party going. We always try and bring you the best upbeat positive music we can find from around the Leeds area to keep everyone mentally resilient during these dark months.
We have kept prices static again for a second year running so let’s get The Brudenell rocking. And what a line up we have for you all!
Happy Daggers
We have been trying to get these guys for some time and over the past year we have followed them from Chapel Allerton to Wakefield Clarence Park just so we can sign them up.
An eight-piece brought together by a mutual love of all things funky, they bring a unique blend of guitar driven disco-funk, thumping beats, throbbing bass lines, infectious melodies, and a captivating lead vocalist (Sinclair Belle), Happy Daggers are on a mission to make you move!
“Turn it up... that’s what I’m talking about #longlivethefunk” Nile Rodgers
“Loving the nod to the 80’s from this outfit...BANGIN’!” Craig Charles (BBC6 Music)
“Sometimes it’s just too funky.” Norman Jay MBE (BBC6 Music)
Les Vegas & The International Playboys of Rhythm
They have been a part of Hair Of The Dog since the very beginning and the only band that have played it more than once, and will never fail to entertain! As an absolutely fabulous10 piece lounge and swing band with full brass section, they will be performing a set of pop classics from over the decades, but as you’ve never heard them before! It is going to be so much fun to have them play for us once again.
Hot Jupiter
Nine-piece funk and soul band, Hot Jupiter love to play music that gets people dancing. There’ll be an eclectic mix of repertoire spanning your favourite pop songs with their own soul and funk twist.
Kemi Kali
A six-piece band from Leeds, fusing funk, reggae, soul and jazz into a vibrant, feel-good sound. Formed in 2024, the band combines infectious grooves and smooth soulful vocals to create original music that gets people moving.
A Short Dark Stranger
He has been at the centre of proceedings for all these years, holding it all together and entertaining you guys as host, so we thought it was about time we actually gave him a proper slot, because he’s worth it! And you won’t be disappointed!
He says: “Leeds's (and indeed the world's - or at least The North of England's...) premier purveyor of poetic provocative pumping power pop!
The dapper doyen of darkly dour yet determinedly defiant disco.
Synths, silver, sarcasm, superbly stylish stage shenanigans, showmanship & soul.
And sharks. No. Don't ask.”
“If you went to Butlins in Twin Peaks…" (Still Forever)
Connecting with the positive party vibes, all the money raised will help Cloth Cat to continue to support those we work with who are struggling with their mental well-being, as we work in NHS mental health units around the city, and deliver other music-based projects to bring people together to help find purpose, friendships and happiness in life.
Doors open at 6.00pm.
