Capture the essence and magic of autumn with haiku. Haiku is a centuries-old form of poetry from Japan that is known for its simplicity and profound observations. It is about being in the present moment and appreciating life and the world around us. In this class, our haiku will focus on autumn in the Northwoods. What do you experience this time of year? What do you see, hear, feel, smell, and taste? You will turn these experiences into short, yet potent poems. After learning about the history of haiku and what it is today, we will go through a variety of exercises to develop your haiku skills. At the end of our class, you will have your own collection of haiku to bring home with you, along with the ability to incorporate haiku into your daily life.
