Join us for the 2027 Hagley Theatre School One-Year Acting Training Course—an entry-level, full-time programme offering an immersive year of practical actor training and theatre creation. Led by Artistic Director and Senior Tutor Dr Pedro Ilgenfritz, you'll explore diverse embodied theatre methodologies while developing your skills through movement, mask, ensemble work and creative practice.
Whether you're new to theatre or looking to build a strong foundation, this programme will help you develop confidence, creativity and performance skills in a supportive and challenging environment.
The course provides a pathway to:
🎭 The Six-Month Theatre Creation Course at the HTS
🎓 Tertiary theatre training such as Unitec and Toi Whakaari
🌟 Professional theatre practice
It is also a distinctive alternative for students seeking hands-on actor training and collaborative theatre creation.

The audition day includes a practical group workshop in the morning followed by an individual interview in the afternoon.
