Inuk Silis Høegh – The Green Land Leiðsögn sérfræðings um verkið The Green Land eftir Inuk Silis Høegh. Verkið, sem er frá árinu 2021, er 34 mínútna löng vídeóinnsetning með hljóðmynd eftir danska hljóðlistamanninn Jacob Kirkegaard. Inuk Silis Høegh fæddist í Qaqortoq á Suður-Grænlandi árið 1972 og er kvikmyndaleikstjóri og myndlistamaður sem vinnur gjarnan á mörkum þessara listgreina. The Green Land er tekið upp í og umhverfis Nuuk og Manisoq á Grænlandi. Verkið er sjónræn hugleiðing um landslag sem er í senn ósnortið og óstöðugt sökum inngripa mannsins og loftslagsbreytinga. Verkið er sýnt í stöðugri hringrás og hverfist um fjögur frumöfl – eld, jörð, vatn og loft – sem birtast sem óræð, græn nærvera í tímabundnum landslagsgjörningum.

Quality Moments at the National Gallery of Iceland at Fríkirkjuvegur
Expert-led tour of the exhibition The Green Land by Inuk Silis Høegh. The artwork from 2021 is a 34-minute film installation with sound by the Danish sound artist Jacob Kirkegaard. Born in Qaqortoq, southern Greenland, in 1972, Inuk Silis Høegh is a film director and conceptual artist whose work often blends both disciplines. Set in and around Nuuk and Mantisoq, The Green Land offers a visual mediation on a landscape that is both pristine and in flux due to human intervention and climate change. Shown in a continuous video loop, the work centres on four elements – fire, earth, water, and air – introduced into the landscape in temporary (and non-toxic) land art interventions which appear as green presences. These elements take on spiritual dimensions, with the artis describing the green colour as “insinuating itself into the landscape like a green serpent.”
The events calendar is aimed at senior citizens and is composed of specially designed tours as well as discussions with the museum´s experts on fine art, ongoing exhibitions and the work of the National Gallery of Iceland. The events create opportunities for guests to approach art and our national heritage from different perspectives.
