Have you ever wondered how traditional Vietnamese rice cakes are made? Or perhaps you miss the familiar feeling of preparing bánh chưng and bánh tét with your family back home?
Join Viet Hub NZ for a hands-on cultural cooking workshop where we come together to discover the stories, traditions and flavours of Vietnamese Lunar New Year.
🌸 WHAT WILL WE EXPLORE?
🍃 Bánh Chưng – Traditional square sticky rice cake, symbolising the Earth and gratitude to our ancestors.
🍃 Bánh Tét – A cylindrical sticky rice cake commonly enjoyed during Tết, particularly in Southern Vietnam.
🍃 Bánh Ú – A pyramid-shaped sticky rice cake wrapped in leaves, representing another beautiful part of Vietnamese culinary heritage.
During the workshop, you will:
🌱 Discover the cultural stories and meanings behind traditional Vietnamese rice cakes.
🌱 Learn about ingredients and traditional wrapping techniques.
🌱 Enjoy a hands-on experience guided by our facilitator, Yung Nguyen.
🌱 Connect with families, friends and community members through food and storytelling.
🌱 Create meaningful memories while helping pass Vietnamese traditions to the next generation.
No cooking experience needed! Whether you're Vietnamese, have children curious about their heritage, or simply love exploring different cultures, everyone is welcome.
