About this Event
Dr. Jepsen is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Openwater.health, a hard tech medical device company pioneering non-invasive treatments for cancer, stroke, mental disease, and brain-computer interfaces using novel ultrasound, holographic, and infrared optics. Uniquely, the entire platform is open source and designed to accelerate FDA approvals while scaling to sub-$500 device costs. Over her career, Dr. Jepsen has invented, brought to production, and shipped over 50 hard-tech products—from virtual and augmented reality systems to smartphones and holographic technologies—and holds over 300 patents spanning diverse fields.
Prior to founding Openwater, Dr. Jepsen held Executive Director and Senior Engineering roles at Facebook, Google, and Intel. She was also a professor at MIT and co-founded the nonprofit One Laptop per Child (OLPC), where she served as CTO and architected the $100 laptop—a transformative initiative that generated billions in industry revenue and fundamentally improved educational access in low- and middle-income countries worldwide. Dr. Jepsen also serves as a Director on the Board of Lear Corporation, the largest U.S. automotive parts supplier.
Recognized as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world, Dr. Jepsen has received numerous awards for her work in optics, advanced display technologies, and electronics. A frequent keynote speaker and TED talk presenter, she has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, The Economist, Fortune, and Forbes.
We are thrilled to have Dr. Jepsen share her experiences as an engineer, innovator, and leader. After her talk and short introduction to her background, we will have a Q&A session and open the floor to an interactive Q&A, followed by catered lunch. Please RSVP here to join us!
