About this Event
Take a break from the busy festive season and start your morning surrounded by nature at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve.
Join us for a special guided winter wildlife walk at first light, when the reserve is waking up and winter wildlife is getting on with its day. With an expert guide to help you spot and identify the sights and sounds around you, discover the birds that visit Potteric Carr during winter, from waders to woodland birds, and keep an eye out for our familiar robin.
After your walk, head back to the Visitor Centre to warm up with a freshly prepared hot sandwich and a cup of tea or coffee. Vegan and gluten-free options are available, so please let our café team know about any dietary requirements when you arrive.
Your ticket also includes entry to Potteric Carr for the rest of the day, giving you the opportunity to explore more of the reserve at your own pace.
Embrace your wild side - what to expect:
Accessibility and terrain
The hour-long walk will feature wooded, grassy and surfaced paths. Whilst on the level, the ground can be uneven in places and areas can get muddy during winter months.
Much of Potteric Carr is accessible for standard wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are other paths that are more rugged that go round the Discovery Zone and Beeston Plantation.
What to bring/wear
Please dress for wintery weather including sturdy footwear.
Toilets and catering
Facilities on site include toilets (including accessible toilet and baby changing facilities) and a gift shop and café in the visitor centre.
Joining us on the day
Meet outside the Visitor Centre at 8am.
