About this Event
Ashley Clark, the head warden for the site, will introduce you to the trees, outlining identification, wildlife importance and value, historic uses and some of the folklore.
He will describe how the trees are managed and the problems that the team have overcome in the last twenty years to create this prime local nature reserve.
The Gorrell Valley nature reserve has been managed jointly by the Friends of Duncan Down and Canterbury City Council since 2005 and is now believed to be the largest village green in England.
There are over fifty different tree species on the reserve across the varied habitats of ancient woodland, scrub, meadows and wetland.
Please note: Good footwear is essential as the ground can be difficult in places
