About this Event
Hey guys! All of my friends have different schedules so I'm going to try and rotate what weekend day we have these walks on! For this hike we'll be checking out Hazelwood, and this is a fun walk! We'll start off at my house and I'll have coffee, tea, water, and maybe some light snacks.
At 11 we'll start off through historic Calvary Cemetery, which will take us to the Hazelwood Greenway, one of my favorite little gems. We'll meander down the hill, ending up in Hazelwood, and walk over to a set of 3 city steps. Then we'll do a fairly long walk down Irvine St. past Dylamato's market, La Gourmandine Bakery, Hazelwood Brew House, Hazel Grove Brewing, and the Wood's House. We may stop and get a bite or a brew, and then head up a long set of 4 consecutive city steps which will take us up the hill back towards my house. After another set of city stairs and a little more walking, it'll take us back to my place and mark the end of the walk.
It's hard to gauge the exact distance of the walk since google maps doesn't acknowledge all city steps, but I believe the walk will go a little over 3 miles, and the most biggest uphill portion of city steps in the latter half will be around 285 ft of incline, with about 443 ft of total incline. Unforutnately I do not have an official number of steps as the city website doesn't have that information for these stairs.
I would reccomend bringing hiking boots if you have a pair, comfortable pants, water, and a walking stick if you feel so inclined!
