Let's gather in the heat, under the stars to honour this special time of year ✨ As the Pleiades star cluster reappears in the sky, join us for a nourishing evening of warmth, contrast, connection, and reflection.
Gather with community as we honour the turning of the seasons through the timeless ritual of sauna bathing. This Matariki session invites you to reflect, embrace the darkness, and welcome the turn of the calendar year.
Aufgussmeister Emma Sinclair will guide the experience through 3-4 rounds of sauna and lake dipping, moving mindfully between fire and ice with breath, presence, and somatic awareness practices woven throughout.
We'll conclude the evening sharing kawakawa tea and reflecting on the season ahead.
How it works
The sauna is heated to 85-95°C, and we'll begin with a brief welcome and intention-setting circle outside.
After approximately 15 minutes in the sauna, we'll make our way to the lake for a refreshing cold-water immersion.
This cycle of heat and cold will be repeated 3-4 times over the 90-minute session, allowing you to experience the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of contrast therapy at your own pace. Each round in the sauna will include afguss ritual with essential oils and water/ ice on the hot stones.

• Togs

• Two towels (one to sit on, one for drying)

Aufguss ritual included
Experience a guided Aufguss ritual — a traditional German sauna practice where ice and essential oils are placed on the hot stones while heat is circulated through the sauna using rhythmic towel movements. The result is an immersive sensory experience that encourages deep relaxation, healthy sweating, and a strong sense of connection.
