Join two of our expert guides for an enjoyable get-together to walk around the fantastic London Wetland Centre to spot winter birds
About this Event

Our guided walk is free of charge but numbers are limited so it is essential to book a place.

NOTE! This event does NOT include entry to the London Wetland Centre. Entry is free of charge if you are a WWT member. If are not a WWT member you will need to pay an entry fee.

Walk leaders: Sue Barry and Andrew Peel

Time: 9.45am to circa midday (we may also decide on the day to continue in the afternoon after a lunch break).

The walk is suitable for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an experienced birdwatcher. Newcomers are very welcome.

We will be looking out for a variety of birds, including resident species and winter visitors. We expect to see Wigeon, Teal, Snipe, Lapwing, Shoveller, Shelduck and Great Crested Grebe. There is also a chance of seeing Bittern, Water Pipit, Jack Snipe, Kingfisher and Peregrine, as well as Siskin and Redpoll.

As ever with birdwatching though, we will just have to wait and see what shows up on the day and there may be a few surprises!

The focus of our walk is to spot wild birds. If you have not been to the London Wetland Centre before, you may want to allow time to look around other areas on your own after the walk.

Visitor information

If you are not a member of WWT you will need to buy a ticket for entry to the London Wetland Centre. Please get your ticket in advance online if possible as we will not have time to wait for people to get tickets on the day.
