About this Event

Hello! My name is Campbell Schanz. I'm an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. I'll be graduating in the fall-- yay! I am completing a major in Environmental Science, with a concentration in Conservation, and a minor in Coastal and Environmental Writing. You may have seen me around town-- I have interned with Cape Fear River Watch, Cape Fear Bird Observatory, Cape Fear's Going Green, and Yoga Village. I have a love for the social networks within environmental science, bridging together local communities, academics, and those who contribute to policy. I truly believe most people want a safe and clean environment, and to do that, there must be an examination of social and historical structures which have shaped communication, or lack thereof. I learned about biochar a handful of years ago, particularly its role as a soil amendment, and have noticed it's not often talked about within our local networks and academics. That being said, I hope to introduce you to biochar if you haven't already heard about it or teach you something new if you have!
