About this Event

You’re Invited to Growing Home’s Backyard Barbeque Sunday, September 21, 2025

Join Growing Home for our annual Backyard Barbeque—a festive farm-to-table friendraiser celebration of food, farming, and community! This event showcases the vibrant spirit of Greater Englewood through:

  • 🍽️ Incredible bites and beverages from talented local chefs and caterers (early arrival encouraged, first come first served)
  • 🎶 Live music and entertainment throughout the day
  • 🌱 Tour of Growing Home's urban farm, gardens, and block spaces
  • 🧑‍🌾 Interactive raffles and games

🗣️ Plus, hear from a Growing Home program alumni speaker, sharing their journey and impact

This event will uplift and support Chicago’s local food system—and proceeds directly benefit Growing Home’s workforce development programs, food access initiatives, and community healing work.

FAQs
How do I check-in with my ticket and where?

With your Eventbrite receipt, you should have received your ticket attached. You can print that out or bring a digital copy.

If you are purchasing your ticket at the door, the sites will be able to take check, cash, Venmo and/or credit card.

Self-guided tours: Where can I park at the different farm sites?

Free street parking is available at all sites! Urban Growers Collective's Green Era Campus offers parking. Street parking is available all along 58th and Halsted Streets around GGE's Englewood Village Plaza.

What happens if it rains?

The plants will be loving it...and the show is still on! In 2022, this event was in the pouring rain and it was the best rain party ever! At the main anchor sites we have tents so you can enjoy the activities under shelter. We will also have ponchos on hand so you can stay dry if you decide to tour around at the farms.

I can't make it but I would still like to donate and support. How can I do that?

Thank you! We appreciate your support for our local urban growers and farm-based workforce development programs. You can donate to Growing Home"

Online at growinghomeinc.org/donate, Venmo @growinghomeinc

If I have any additional questions, who can I contact?

Thank you – We're looking forward to seeing you there!
