Explore Toledo’s new wicking-bed garden and help grow fresh food and opportunity at the Douglass Community Center!
About this Event

Grow Me Green Gardens is an in-person community garden initiative for Toledo locals.

The initiative at the Douglass Community Center is underway, setting up high-efficiency sub-irrigation wicking beds to grow fresh produce, provide hands-on agricultural training for youth, and create a vibrant neighborhood space. Help us grow fresh food and opportunity by adopting a bed. Sponsorships fund materials, soil, sub-irrigation infrastructure, and ongoing garden maintenance. Individuals, families, local businesses, and community organizations are welcome to sponsor.

Sponsorship levels and available beds

  • 8' × 2' oval raised bed — $200: 8 available out of 12 total. Includes sub-irrigation wicking technology and a custom 3-line engraved placard attached to the bed. Choose up to 3 root crops or leafy greens.
  • 2' × 2' round container — $50: 6 available out of 6 total. Ideal for individuals, youth sponsors, or small family gifts. Includes a custom 3-line engraved placard; choose your crop selection for the season.

Seasonal crop options

Carrots, radishes, beets, red pearl onions, garlic, turnips and rutabagas, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens/lettuce.
