About this Event
Learn how to start growing food wherever you are.
Living in a big city, surrounded by grocery stores, restaurants, and businesses, it can be easy to forget how much of the food we eat is grown somewhere else and transported to us.
But what happens when there are disruptions to the food supply chain? What if your neighborhood grocery store closes? And how can we take more control over the food we grow, eat, and share?
You can start growing food today, wherever you are.
Join Crop Swap LA for Grow Food Now, a hands-on workshop designed to give you the practical knowledge and tools you need to start growing food or strengthen the garden you already have.
The workshop will include a garden bed installation and live demonstrations covering:
- Soil mixes and growing mediums
- Coconut coir, pots, and seed starting
- Choosing and sourcing seedlings
- Simple seasonal crop planning
- What you can grow right now and what to expect
- Different ways to grow food in a variety of spaces
- Garden bed installation and setup
You’ll also learn more about Crop Swap LA’s approach to urban food production and see examples of different garden systems, including raised beds, wall gardens, trellises, A-frames, and reservoir-based growing systems.
Whether you’re completely new to growing food or already have a garden, this workshop will give you practical information you can take home and put into action.
What to Expect:
