Join us on September 24th as we celebrate the anniversary of Grits, a solo exhibition by Clarence S Josey II, curated by Lauryn Lawrence.Since the opening of Grits on September 25th, 2025, my family’s story and history have continued to travel. My goal was for the work to be seen and felt, and we did just that. It’s a huge honor to see my family’s story continue to live beyond the exhibition and find its way into other spaces.
With four works from Grits currently on view at Green Space Miami, it’s only right that we celebrate the anniversary here. I’m excited to bring Grits back and share an evening centered around the people that help this show become what it is today.
The evening will include a screening of a short film about the closing night of Grits by Aaron J. Jackson, followed by a conversation moderated by Reginald L. O’Neal, reflecting on the work, the exhibition, and the community that supported the show.
Music and refreshments will be provided.
