This is the first of, hopefully, a few cons to be run by the Thanet Boardgames Club.
DAILY TIMES.
Friday, we get the keys, 17:00 for set up so if you want to help it’s then otherwise public doors by 17:30. Close of event at 22:45. We must be clear before 23:00
Saturday 09:00 to 22:45 again clear by 23:00
Sunday 09:00 to 16:00. Volunteers welcome to help clean and tidy till 17:00
Tickets from Steve (the poster) just PM me and we will sort out payment (PayPal - friends and family - we are not a business). For the WHOLE weekend £10 (advance discount - pay on door at daily price) or parts Friday £3, Saturday £6 and Sunday £3. We can't get any cheaper and neither can these prices.
So what's on? It's a gathering to play Board Games. The criteria is wide, but as it's a weekend, try a longer heavier game. RPGs and card games are also included. But here the main part - it's run what you have brought or agreed to play with others mainly. See separate thread for listing players wanted, what I want to run etc. there may be a small library of games, more news later.
Please park on the streets, there are only 4 spaces outside and we would like to save these for our friends who may not be able to walk too far (blue badge).
FOOD - there is no food being provided. There are two cafes, a corner shop, a micro pub, fish and chip shop and I have been informed by some people that there are delivery services. What a wonderful age we live in 😃
BRING and BUY - an unmanned area will be set up - details later, but label your pre-loved gems and flog em.
UPDATE on Ticket Prices
The £10 for the weekend is for advanced ticket purchases. Please book in and pay before the end of November. After that daily pricing will apply.
Save money, book now!!!!
UPDATE on Nuts.
This is a NUT FREE environment. Please do not bring any form of NUT into the hall, there are people who would suffer.
If you are not sure why or if your product has nuts then please do not bring!!!
UPDATE on Rubbish
There are no bins at the hall, if you bring something and create waste, you are personally expected to take it away. Small rubbish sacks with be provided, but must not be left in the hall. Make Waste, Tidy Waste, Take Waste home!!!
UPDATE on food.
It has been decided that due to various food intolerances and preferences that we will not be providing any food.
AS such you may bring your own food and use the microwave and fridge. There is also an oven that is available.
Please be aware, if you do use then you are expected to wash up and clear up yourselves.
As well as a couple of cafes and corner shop food can be delivered. This is fine, but again you are expected to clear up your own mess.
See note on RUBBISH
UPDATE - On Volunteers
Technically there is only one volunteer, but I'm asking for some to help occasionally. To be know as "Stevie's Little Helpers".
So we can set up tables etc.. on Friday from 17:00 and then open the doors.
Police the kitchen. etc.. (I'll do the loos, don't panic.....unless someone enjoys that task).
So not looking for names now, but if You rock up at 17:00 Friday you can help. (when set up we can let others in). Across the weekend I'll call out for assistance occasionally.
Also as no organiser, there is no t-shirt, I should be identifiable, I'll wear something, maybe a crown ????
UPDATE on Trade Stand.
I am absolutely delighted to announce that Board At Home have agreed to set up a trade stand for all your last minute Christmas gifts you will need.
I'll leave Adam to put details here of the offerings, but visit his page, see what he's got and order.
Don't waste the last weekend of the year in Westwood cross looking for gifts, come to GrinchCon26 to waste your weekend playing games AND getting last minute gifts!!!
Ah. Facebook is limiting people who can see to those in the group. Please share in your own feeds. Probably want money for others to see. See if can help advertise.
UPDATE. The con is child friendly. Under 18s need a ticket and a responsible adult to enter. We are not providing child care or any special activities for them though, so a level of maturity to play is needed. That said several games, not aimed specifically, will be suitable. I guess though a four hour 18xx would be a stretch 🥰
