Fragrance Lake was Chris Hovland's first, and favorite, hike! Let's gather to remember him and take a hike in his honor.Chris was a pivotal member and moderator of several PNW hiking groups, sharing his positive energy and building community everywhere he went!
Challenging himself to tackle increasingly more difficult hikes, and inviting his friends to join him, inspired many folks to stretch their comfort zone and grow, as hikers and as people. He loved a lot of trails around the PNW, but Fragrance Lake continued to hold a special place in his heart.
Chris's sense of humor and infectious laugh brought joy to trails and group posts, as well as game nights and Seahawks watch parties where strangers became friends. He had a way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and appreciated, and our hiking communities are better for it! He will be greatly missed!
Hiking pace will be grief-level slow -- but feel free to set your own pace to whatever works best for you! We will meet at the trailhead at 10 am to start up the trail together, make the loop around the lake, and take a side trip to the viewpoint on the way down. We might try to get lunch after the hike if folks are interested. Kid and dog-friendly trail. This is a popular hike on weekends, so carpooling is highly encouraged!
