Join British historian, broadcaster and author Greg Jenner as he chats to content creator and author Katie Kennedy @thehistorygossip about his phenomenal career, including chart-topping BBC Radio 4 podcast You’re Dead to Me and CBBC’s comedy sketch show Horrible Histories.
Books will be available to purchase on the night, courtesy of East Grinstead Bookshop. There will also be the opportunity to get your books signed.

Greg Jenner
Greg Jenner is a British public historian, broadcaster, and author with a passion for communicating history through pop culture and humour. Greg is the creator and presenter of BBC Radio 4’s chart-topping podcast and flagship show 'You’re Dead to Me', where top comedians and expert historians look at global history. Greg’s other BBC Radio 4 projects include the acclaimed children’s educational series ‘Homeschool History’ (made during Covid lockdown), 'Past Forward: A Century of Sound' and a role as resident historian on 'The Origin of Stuff' with Katy Brand. Greg also wrote and presented the 'A Somewhat Complete History of Sitting Down' podcast for Audible Originals and 'Hilarious History: What’s so Funny About the Past?' For Radio 4 Extra.
Greg has worked as an historical consultant for CBBC’s phenomenally successful comedy sketch show 'Horrible Histories', and its BAFTA-nominated spinoff movie 'Horrible Histories: Rotten Romans'. He was also the expert adviser for YouTube Kids’ animated educational comedy series 'Corpse Talk', which was nominated for a RTS award. He co-presented two series of BBC Two’s 'Inside Versailles', was a panellist on BBC Two’s 'The Great History Quiz' and has been an expert interviewee on several historical documentaries and news programmes.
He is the author (and audiobook narrator) of: 'A Million Years In A Day', 'Dead Famous, Ask A Historian', 'You are History', and the 'Totally Chaotic History!' children’s book series.
Greg studied at the University of York 2001 - 2005, and abandoned dreams of a PhD in Medieval Literature. He does guest teaching at both the University of York and Royal Holloway, University of London. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (FRHistS), an Honorary Research Associate at Royal Holloway, University of London, and an Honorary Fellow of the University of York’s Institute For The Public Understanding of the Past (IPUP).
Katie Kennedy
Katie Kennedy, aka The History Gossip, is the Forbes 30-Under-30 and TIME100 historian reimagining how old stories are told to the next generation. A graduate of Durham University and Oxford University, she started posting her cheeky and informative content in 2024 after noticing how rarely working-class voices were represented in modern history, and set out to make the past accessible, entertaining, and pop-culture adjacent.
Katie is beloved for her skill of blending rigorous research with humour and cheeky gossip, bringing the human drama of history to audiences who don’t traditionally see themselves reflected in education. She has hosted History Crush (Sky History) and History Yappers (BBC) and is the author of The History Gossip: Was Anne of Cleves a Minger? and 365 Other Historical Curiosities. Katie has been able to blend commercial opportunities with a historic twist, becoming a favourite spokesperson across film & TV, lifestyle and education with the likes of Warner Brothers, Disney+, Greggs, National Trust, North East CA, The King’s Trust, and many more.
Alongside her media work, Katie collaborates with major cultural institutions including the British Museum, National Gallery, and Beamish Museum, and is a leading voice in widening access to history through modern storytelling.
