Greg Abate is an internationally acclaimed jazz alto saxophonist, flutist, composer, and recording artist whose career spans more than five decades.
A Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame inductee, Abate has been recognized in the DownBeat Readers Poll among the world’s top alto saxophonists and has performed and recorded with jazz legends including Phil Woods, Kenny Barron, Ray Charles, and many others.
On the bandstand, Greg is a dynamic and commanding presence—bringing extraordinary technique, soulful expression, fiery improvisation, and an unmistakable bebop voice to every performance.
Whether leading his quartet or appearing as a featured soloist, he engages musicians and audiences alike with spontaneous creativity, driving swing, and a deep knowledge of the jazz tradition.
