*Please bring your own yoga mat*Rooted in the history of the DAP as a ritual of trust and solidarity among Black soldiers, this experience explores the ways ritual supports and cultivates community, connection, and resilience through yoga, breath, movement, and sound. We’ll consider how ritual has appeared across communities as a practice of grounding, individual and collective care, and liberation, and how these practices can reconnect us to ourselves and one another.

**Notes:**
During the Vietnam War, the DAP became more than a greeting among Black soldiers—it was a
ritual of trust, solidarity, and care.
Later in the war, that connection was even incorporated into a
practice known as “DAP Therapy,” where Black G.I.s familiar with the DAP would connect with
fellow Black soldiers experiencing psychological trauma, helping build the trust needed for them
to receive medical treatment.
This yoga session draws from that history by exploring wellness
through connection, breath, movement, and community. Just as the DAP reminded soldiers that
they were not facing their experiences alone, this session creates space to ground ourselves,
care for one another, and recognize community as part of healing.
