Join us for a look at Hilton Head Island’s Indigenous history! We invite you to a guided tour of the Green’s Shell Enclosure Heritage Preserve, a three-acre site listed on the National Register of Historic Places that protects a shell enclosure built by Indigenous people around 1335 CE.SCDNR archaeologist Meg Gaillard will lead the tour to discuss the significance of the preserve, the generations of people who lived there, and what archaeologists have uncovered through recent excavations.
Important Details:
📍Meeting Point: We will meet directly at the Green’s Shell Enclosure Heritage Preserve on Hilton Head Island (located beside Skull Creek).
🚶🏻♀️Terrain: This is a short walking tour that includes uneven terrain, so wear comfortable shoes.
Cost: No fee, but registration is required (click the tickets)
