Step back in time for an entertaining and evocative double bill celebrating life, community and extraordinary moments in the shadow of Greenham Common.
What We Had tells the story of Maureen McBarron, one of five children brought up by a single mum in Bishops Green, living in a repurposed Army Nissen hut beneath the shadow of the USAF base at Greenham Common.
Life was tough, and Maureen endured considerable hardship. But her colourful, warm and often hilarious memories don't dwell on what was missing. Instead, she remembers what she and her community had — the people, the characters, the laughter and the experiences that made childhood special.
Then, in When Nero Burnt Down the Common, we return to a remarkable year.
England wins the World Cup.
Harold Wilson is Prime Minister.
The Beatles' Rubber Soul is at Number One.
The Soviets launch Lunar 10, the first spacecraft to reach the Moon.
And at Greenham Common, motorcyclist George Brown pushes the boundaries of speed, breaking 11 World and 16 British speed records.
Two very different stories, brought together in one double bill, local memories, national milestones and a glimpse of a changing Britain.
