🎸 AUDITIONS: Green Day’s American Idiot 🎸DLO Musical Theatre | February 2027 Production
Are you ready to be part of a high-energy, hard-hitting rock musical? DLO Musical Theatre is looking for performers ready to take the stage in Green Day’s American Idiot!
Based on Green Day’s groundbreaking album, American Idiot is a raw, electrifying rock musical that follows three disillusioned young men searching for meaning, connection, and purpose in a post-9/11 world. Packed with the iconic music of Green Day, this production brings the album’s rebellious energy and emotional intensity to the stage.
Whether you're a powerhouse vocalist, a dynamic dancer, a compelling actor, or a musician who can rock out, we want to see what you bring to the stage!
🎭 AUDITION DETAILS
WHO: Adults only — ages 18 and up.
WHEN: November 10 & 11, 2026
🕠 5:30–8:00 PM: Vocal auditions
💃 8:00–9:00 PM: Mandatory dance audition
WHERE: DLO’s Backstage in downtown Danville

CALLBACKS: Saturday, November 14, from 4:00–6:00 PM, if necessary.
🎤 WHAT TO PREPARE
🎶 Audition Song: Prepare a rock song or something reasonably upbeat. You may also be asked to sing material from the show.
- Song Length: You'll sing approximately 40–60 seconds of your prepared song. Please mark your sheet music ahead of time so the accompanist can quickly find your starting point. You may be stopped before you finish as we work to hear everyone. Don't worry! It's simply to keep auditions moving so we can see as many performers as possible.
- Vocal Range: You may be asked to sing scales so the team can assess your range.
- Readings: You may be asked to read scenes from the script, either individually or with other auditionees.
- Dance Audition: Everyone must participate in the dance audition, which will typically be done in groups. Wear or bring comfortable shoes that allow you to move safely.
🎸 Calling All Musicians! Men who can competently play guitar are especially encouraged to audition!
⚡ IMPORTANT: KNOW BEFORE YOU AUDITION
American Idiot is an intense, mature rock musical. The production contains graphic adult language, significant drug-related content, simulated sexual activity, and depictions of violence. Some characters will appear partially undressed. These elements occur throughout the production and are not limited to a single character or scene.
Please carefully consider this content before auditioning. This production may not be suitable for performers who are uncomfortable participating in a show featuring these themes.
🔥 ENSEMBLE IS NOT A SMALL COMMITMENT!
Do not underestimate the ensemble!
Ensemble performers are an essential and highly active part of this production. In addition to carrying much of the show's demanding choreography, ensemble members remain onstage throughout the entire approximately 90-minute performance. As the story progresses, ensemble performers may also move into larger, named roles.
Ensemble participation requires a level of preparation, stamina, focus, and commitment comparable to that of the named roles. This is not a production where ensemble members simply fill the background. Every performer plays an active role in bringing the story to life from beginning to end.
We're looking for performers ready to jump in, work hard, and commit to the full demands of this high-energy show!
📅 REHEARSAL COMMITMENT
Being part of Green Day’s American Idiot requires dedication, stamina, and a commitment to the entire production.
Regular rehearsals are planned for:
- Tuesdays: 6:00–9:00 PM
- Thursdays: 6:00–9:00 PM
- Sundays: 1:00–5:00 PM
📖 FIRST READ-THROUGH: Tuesday, November 17, 2026!
Attendance at rehearsals is mandatory. Please come to auditions with a complete list of any scheduling conflicts between auditions and February 2027. All conflicts must be included on your audition form so the production team can plan accordingly.
Please carefully consider this schedule before auditioning. We need performers who can commit to rehearsals, choreography, and the full demands of the production.
