American artist greek! writes music that captivates through the expressive character of soul and the youthful innocence of bedroom pop, paired with introspective lyrics and compelling storytelling. This approach is reflected in expansive indie soundscapes, retro vibes, lo-fi beats, and atmospheric vocals, into which the musician and singer from southwestern Virginia incorporates influences from pop, alternative, hip-hop, and R&B with plenty of groove. To date, this has resulted in three albums that undeniably document greek’s musical development and growing maturity over time. Alongside his career as a solo artist, greek has also written and produced songs for artists such as JID, SoFaygo, and Dean. In November, the 23-year-old will embark on tour and perform in Munich and Berlin.
The musician from Martinsville, Virginia taught himself songwriting and production online beginning in 2015. Influenced by acts such as A Tribe Called Quest, Daniel Caesar, and Kenny Beats, he debuted with his first tracks in 2019 and performed at his high school graduation ceremony. From 2020 onwards, greek released a series of singles, showcasing his versatile sound. With the singles “bones” and “safety,” greek hinted at the release of his debut album EXTC in 2022, which featured “hmu,” the most successful song of his career to date. The artist wrote and produced the album entirely by himself, quickly earning widespread respect within the alternative R&B scene. In 2024, greek followed up with his second full-length album, ACCELERATOR, which Elton John praised as “one hell of a good record” and which balances dreamy retro vibes (“RIPCORD”) with modern dance influences (“VIRGINIA CREEPER” and “DANCE”), making it consistently club-ready. His latest album, CEDAR’S TAPE, released in 2025, took greek deeper into the indie realms of his music. With a soulful retro touch, subtle jazz influences (“CALL ME”), chilled beats, and his ethereal vocals (“2:35 AM”), the third album’s sound stands apart from the driving club sound of its predecessor. In March 2026, greek followed it up with the current single “PATIENCE,” which, through psychedelic synthesizers, a hypnotic bassline, a driving beat, and his dreamy voice, draws listeners deep into the musician’s atmospheric world.
