About this Event
During this event, you will have the opportunity to take part in a demonstration of the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup's BeBot. The Great Lakes Plastics Cleanup is an initiative led by Pollution Probe in Canada and the Council of the Great Lakes Region in the U.S., that uses innovative plastic capture technology to prevent and remove plastic pollution from the Great Lakes and collect data on what is found in collaboration with local communities.
The BeBot is the first beach cleaning robot in Canada that sifts sand and substrates to remove plastic debris from the environment. Participants will see a live demonstration of the BeBot in operation as it collects debris from the beach, providing an interactive opportunity to learn about innovative technologies used to help protect freshwater ecosystems.
You will be invited to help sort and characterize the debris collected, providing an important opportunity to help collect critical data to inform upstream solutions aimed at ending plastic pollution in the Great Lakes.
