Graveyards, mourning & boozy burials: Taking spirits (and more) to the grave with Millie Milliken x Wet Ink
About this Event

From New Orleans to Mexico, Haiti to Japan, countries around the world have cultivated their own nuanced rituals around death. Recipes written on gravestones, dumb suppers, and leaving spirits out for loved ones’ souls returning to earth - this talk will explore some of the more unusual customs, and the spirits - whiskey, rum and more - that are connected to them. You’ll learn how to read a graveyard as well as spooky sightings, what food and drink rituals happen around the world when a loved one dies, and some of the booziest offerings that have been buried with the dead.

Award-winning drinks writer and author Millie Milliken will guide you through five different spirits that bring the stories of the evening to life. From their history to how they’re made, how to drink them and more, this is a chance to learn about the magical world and flavour of spirits through unexpected tales.

Tickets: £25 (includes welcome cocktail, admission to the talk, and a tasting of 5 spirits)

When: Monday 13 April 2026, 6.30pm-9pm
